US aluminium crude metals and alloys exports to Canada amplify 14.98% Y-o-Y; also marks 32.43% Y-o-Y spike in Mexico

The United States aluminium crude metals and alloys exports to Canada increased by 770 tonnes or 14.98 per cent Year-on-Year to officiate at 5,910 tonnes in June 2023 from 5,140 tonnes in June 2022. On a Quarter-on-Quarter scale, there has been a slump of 930 tonnes or 13.6 per cent from 6,840 tonnes recorded in March 2023.

If we look at the Month-on-Month graph, a drop of 730 tonnes or 10.99 per cent can be acknowledged from 6,640 tonnes in May 2023 to 5,910 tonnes US crude metals and alloys exports to Canada in June 2023.

Whereas Mexico has seen a blooming export ratio from the US, as in June 2022, the total haul was 11,100 tonnes, which surged by 3,600 tonnes or 32.43 per cent to reach 14,700 tonnes in June 2023. On a Quarter-on-Quarter basis, the US exports to Mexico rose by 700 tonnes or 5 per cent from 14,000 tonnes in March 2023.

The Month-on-Month change has also been positive, with 1,100 tonnes or 8.09 per cent hike from 13,600 tonnes marked in May 2023 to 14,700 tonnes in June 2023.

On the other hand, the United States aluminium crude metals and alloys imports from Canada in June 2022 was 276,000 tonnes, which depleted by 54,000 tonnes or 19.56 per cent Year-on-Year to reach 222,000 tonnes in June 2023. If we consider the import rate from Canada in March 2023, which was 216,000 tonnes, 6,000 tonnes or 2.78 per cent Quarter-on-Quarter levitation can be marked in June.

On a Month-on-Month scale, there has been a rise of 10,000 tonnes or 4.72 per cent from 212,000 tonnes in May 2023 to 222,000 tonnes in June 2023.

Now, if we calculate another neighbouring country’s supply to the US, it can be seen that Mexico accounted for 1,090 tonnes of US imports in June 2022, which grew by 160 tonnes or 14.68 per cent Year-on-Year to arrive at 1,250 tonnes in June 2023. On a Quarter-on-Quarter basis, the US crude metals and alloys imports from Mexico have dipped by 100 tonnes or 7.41 per cent, recording 1,350 tonnes in March 2023.

As per the USGS data, on a Month-on-Month scale, there has been a downfall of 1,250 tonnes or 29.77 per cent from 1,780 tonnes in May 2023 to 1,250 tonnes in June 2023.
