Chinalco Group, a renowned player in the aluminium industry, has played a pivotal role by introducing multiple national standards for aluminium alloys. In a recent development, the General Administration of Market Supervision and the National Standards Committee jointly issued an announcement regarding National Standard No. 9 in 2023.

This announcement included the release of five national standards pertaining to aluminium alloys, all spearheaded by Chinalco Group enterprises. These standards encompass various aspects such as forgings, extruded materials, plates, and strips. The effective date for their implementation is set for April 1st of the following year.

Among the five newly introduced national standards, the one titled "General Requirements for General Industrial Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Plates and Strips Part 1" and "General Industrial Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Extruded Profiles" notably incorporates a substantial number of alloy grades and technical specifications.

These standards comprehensively outline inspection parameters, examination techniques, judgment criteria, and other relevant provisions, encompassing the full range of existing supporting testing methods. They serve as upgraded replacements for GB/T 34480-2017 and GB/T 34506-2017.

Moreover, the national standards for "High-Strength and High-Toughness Al-Zn-Mg-Cu Series Aluminium Alloy Forgings" and "High-Strength and High-Toughness Al-Zn-Mg-Cu Series Aluminium Alloy Extrusion Materials" have adapted to market trends and user demands by expanding the alloy grade offerings. Simultaneously, these standards have relaxed the production process requirements for ingot raw materials. Another national standard, "High-Strength and Damage-Resistant Al-Cu-Mg Series Aluminium Alloy Plate and Strip," builds upon GB/T 33368-2016, broadening the standard's applicability from the electronics industry, including TV sets, to various other high-load component production sectors.

The release and implementation of these national standards represent a significant step toward standardising the aluminium and aluminium alloy product market. This development promotes product quality enhancement, facilitates the adoption and application of standardised materials by various entities, addresses the localisation of key foreign materials, and strengthens China's international competitiveness in high-end civil and aerospace, transportation, and related fields. This initiative holds immense practical significance in steering the industry toward high-quality development.
