The latest US Geological Survey data for April 2020 shows an expansion in aluminium crude metal and alloys exports from the United Arab Emirates to the US. The United Arab Emirates exported 38,400 tonnes of aluminium extrusions in April, compared to 20,400 tonnes in March 2020. So, month-on-month, the exports recorded a surge of 18,000 tonnes or 88.24 per cent. When compared to the same period last year (April 2019), the UAE’s aluminium crude metal and alloys exports to the US were found 24.27 per cent higher from 30,900 tonnes.
As the above graph shows, the United Arab Emirates’ aluminium crude metal and alloys exports to the US stood at 10,100 tonnes in February 2020, sharply down by 20,900 tonnes or 207 per cent from 31,000 tonnes in January 2020. The exports in March grew by 10,300 tonnes or 102 per cent month-on-month.
Accumulative aluminium extrusion exports from the UAE to the US in the first four months of 2020 totalled 144,000 tonnes, down by 32,000 tonnes or 18.18 per cent from 176,000 tonnes during the corresponding period last year.
The United States’ total imports of aluminium crude metal and alloys in April 2020 were 338,000 tonnes, up 37.40 per cent month-on-month from 246,000 tonnes and 7.64 per cent year-on-year from 314,000 tonnes.
