Automated People Mover (APM)
The Automated People Mover (APM) at Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), which is scheduled to debut in 2024, was honoured with the APM the Trailblazer Project of the Year by the Los Angeles Sustainability Coalition (LASC). APM is a zero-emissions electric train made of recyclable aluminium shells that produce its own power by regenerative braking, which utilises the kinetic energy often lost during braking to move the train forward. Previously in 2022 also, APM had bagged the Envision Gold Award for Sustainable Infrastructure for performing exceptionally well across numerous parameters in the Envision framework relevant to increasing quality of life, ranging from reducing light pollution, noise, and vibration to increasing mobility and access to sustainable transportation alternatives.
Mercedes-Benz Supplier Award
Norsk Hydro, the premier Norwegian aluminium firm dedicated to a sustainable future, was recently awarded the Mercedes-Benz Supplier Award in the sustainability category. On June 19, the Mercedes-Benz Supplier Circle event occurred in Stuttgart, Germany. This award is granted each year to celebrate outstanding success by supplier partners in innovation, quality, and sustainability. Mercedes-Benz received the award earlier this year after receiving the first batch of Hydro REDUXA 3.0 low-carbon aluminium. The aluminium was produced in Norway using hydroelectric power at Hydro's rdal plant, contains at least 25% post-consumer scrap, and has a carbon footprint over 70% lower than the European average.
Waste Management and Recycling Award
The Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) was awarded second place in the Waste Management and Recycling Award for Printer Ink Cartridges in the Enterprise category by the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) at the UAE level. This award recognised SEWA for collecting, sorting, and recycling about 200 ink cartridges. SEWA's waste management and recycling efforts included initiatives for paper, plastic, aluminium cans, ink, mobile phones, and glass bottles. SEWA and its partners worked tirelessly throughout the year to accomplish these incredible outcomes. The purpose of this wholehearted endeavour of diverting waste items from landfills is circular economy.
Bravo Sustainability Dialogue & Awards
ElvalHalcor received two awards as part of the Bravo Sustainability Dialogue & Awards held from June 21 to June 23 at the Old Parliament House. ElvalHalcor's dedication to adopting ethical business practises and commitment to Sustainable Development principles was recognised by Bravo Sustainability Dialogue & Awards. The Quality Net Foundation (QNF) hosted the award presentation as part of the Sustainability Week 2021 event. The Bravo Institution is a programme run by the Quality Net Foundation as part of the Sustainable Greece 2020 Initiative to promote national social dialogue for sustainable development through initiatives from businesses, local government organisations, and local government organisations.
Effective Sustainability Communicator Award
AMAG Austria Metall AG, the leading Austrian premium supplier of high-quality cast and rolled aluminium products used in various industries, was awarded the "Effective Sustainability Communicator Award" for the second time in a row for its comprehensive and transparent sustainability reporting. The Austrian ATX Prime Standard's 39 firms were all examined. AMAG was impressed with high ratings in its integrated grasp of sustainability and finished second overall. The assessment was carried out by the professorship of Accounting and Auditing at the HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management, headed by Prof. Dr Henning Zülch and the Hamburg-based consulting firm Kirchhoff Consult.
Golden Peacock Award
NALCO (National Aluminium Corporation Ltd), an Indian state-owned integrated aluminium corporation, was named the national winner of the 'Golden Peacock Award' for its sustainability in recognition of its ongoing commitment to sustainable mining and environmentally responsible operations. Sridhar Patra, Chairman and Co-Managing Director of Nalco, won the award on March 23, 2022, in a virtual session hosted by the Institute of Directors (IOD). Established in 1991 by the Institute of Directors (IOD), the Golden Peacock Award has become a global standard for corporate excellence. Mr Patra thanked the personnel for their unwavering dedication to the sustainability drive and environmental management practises.
Green World Leader for 2022
Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) earned two major prizes from the Green Organisation on November 21, 2022, the 'Gold' Green World Award and the Green World Leader for 2022, as revealed at the Green Apple prizes event held at the Palace of Westminster in London, UK. The Green Organisation, established in 1994, is an international, independent, non-profit environmental organisation that recognises and promotes environmental best practices across the globe.
Crown presents Sustainability Awards
Crown Holdings, Inc. is honouring individual units in its global network for demonstrating remarkable creativity and leadership in sustainability as it works to achieve the Company's Twentyby30 objectives. Crown's Texas beverage can facility in Conroe received the Social Sustainability label, recognising actions to improve the workers or the area community. Crown's Indian Transit Packaging Division facility in Dahej was also awarded the Sustainability Award for Safety for its outstanding commitment to worker safety. The Environmental Sustainability Award is given to units that have implemented clean eco-drives to reduce the Company's operational effect by reducing material consumption or enhancing reuse or recycling operations.
