President Joko Widodo government in Indonesia is in constant motivation to increase the national aluminium production. The focused figure is 1.5-2 million tonnes per annum by 2025, keeping in mind the present production 250,000 tonnes. The government is seeking to enable manufacturers to align with the growing export market demand.
Aluminium bar rods has recorded with an import of volume 35,017 tonnes from 2017-2019, which posted in payment of foreign revenue of $108.7 million.
The projected import for Aluminium bar rods in 2020 is 11,795 tonnes, which when added to 2017-19 touches 46,812 tonnes. The amount projected in 2020 import of Aluminium bar rods is $48.53 million, which when comprises with the existing year 2017-19 comes to $157.23 million.
In 2017 Indonesia’s Aluminium Bar Rods import was at 7276 tonnes and in 2018 there was a rapid growth of 131.99% which accounted for 16,880 tonnes, an increase in the import volume of 9604 tonnes. The foreign revenue payment jumped to $45.35 million from $22.62 million from the existing year, a straight rise of $22.73 million.
The year 2019 though showed a decline of 35% in import of Aluminium rods. The total volume was 10861 tonnes and in the existing year, it was 16880 tonnes, which posted de-growth of 6019 tonnes.
The projection for 2020 is 11,795 tonnes, steady growth of 8.5% and when compared to the volume from the existing year it comes with 934 tonnes on the higher side.
