The Italian Sea Group (TISG), one of the largest companies in the international yachting industry, has reportedly launched the 46.5-metre aluminium catamaran, the largest in the world, named ArtExplorer. This water vessel is the first built under the brand Perini Navi since it's been acquired by TISG in late 2021.
The yacht will make its first public appearance at the Monaco Yacht Show on September 27-30. The vessel will serve as a floating art gallery to showcase artistic experiences to the world.
TISG has explained that the yacht's flybridge will host virtual exhibitions, workshops, and conferences, while the main saloon will house an art gallery.
Both interior and exterior design of the yacht is done by French architect Axel de Beaufort, who has considered sustainability while designing and hence included a 65-square-metre sheet of solar panels on the deckhouse. The solar panel produces 12 kilowatts of power instantaneously and 200 kilowatts of energy per day.
The yacht is also operated by lithium batteries that allow zero-emission electricity generation for more than six hours at full load, and the exhaust systems are fitted with filters that also aim to decrease emissions and particulate matter.
The catamaran is fully automated and can be operated by a single person, sailing at a speed of ten knots even in low wind conditions.
Giovanni Costantino, founder and CEO of TISG, said the project is innovative on a technical as well as human level. He commented, "A work that demonstrates our ability to be protagonists also in the large sailing segment, as well as pioneers of cutting-edge solutions aimed at significantly reducing the environmental impact of yachts. Art Explorer is the result of continuous investment in the study and research of systems to reduce emissions and contribute to improving air quality and the health of our seas."
The yacht can accommodate up to 10 guests in 5 staterooms. Once delivered, ArtExplorer will join a fleet of 82 yachts in the 45-50 metre size range.
