The first-of-its-kind aluminium grate drainage solution launched by Stormtech in Australia ensures high-performing drainage solutions for residential and commercial bathroom applications. This unique aluminium grate drainage solution, dubbed Wave Grate, will revolutionise contemporary drainage by offering an Australian-first solution to architects, specifiers, and other industry experts looking for a premium product at a reasonable cost.
Developed and produced in Australia using Australian components, the new anodised aluminium drainage system features a unique wave pattern. It is certified under WaterMark WMTS:-040:2021 to meet the Plumbing Code of Australia and surpass Australian Building Standards for quality and safety.
“Wave Grate is 100 per cent Australian in every sense. It is designed and manufactured in Australia for Australians and will give excellent performance suited to our harsh environment. Everything about the Wave Grate is aimed at making life easier. It is comfortable to walk on and more aesthetically pleasing in a bathroom as you can’t see dirt in the channel, whilst maintaining high flow rates. It’s resistant to corrosion and will never fade. The design also provides a safe wet area finish as it ‘grabs’ water using surface tension and keeps it off the grate”, said Troy Creighton, the managing director of Stormtech.
“When Stormtech started designing sanitary drainage solutions, extruded aluminium channel was, and still is, deemed not to be a suitable material for sanitary drainage when used in contact with cement or concrete,” added Troy Creighton.

An insulator was also developed to guarantee that the aluminium grate and stainless steel channel are separated to eradicate the possibility of corrosion, ensuring Wave Grate matches the high-performance demands of all Stormtech products.
