Stable alumina buoys aluminium ingot price three days in a row

The A00 aluminium ingot spot price continued to rise three days in a row since July 6, 2018, according to the data by Shanghai Metals Market. Today, as of July 10, the ingot price raised RMB 20 per tonne to stand at RMB 14010 per tonne, compared to RMB 13990 per tonne on July 9 after growing from RMB 13910 per tonne, as of July 6. The average price today is expected to range between RMB 13990 per tonne and RMB 14030 per tonne, with spot discounts to settle at RMB 50 per tonne to RMB 10 per tonne.

However, not all major Chinese markets witnessed a growth in A00 aluminium ingot spot price, despite a hike in the average price. Only in the north, the ingot spot price registered a rise by RMB 10 per tonne to stand at RMB 14010 per tonne. In the east and south, on the other hand, the aluminium ingot prices plunged from RMB 13995 per tonne to RMB 13990 per tonne and from RMB 14085 per tonne to RMB 14070 per tonne, respectively.

Alumina spot price is also on the rise for the past few days. On July 5, the price increased from RMB 2722 per tonne to RMB 2728 per tonne, followed by RMB 2740 per tonne on July 6, RMB 2767 per tonne on July 9, and RMB 2780 per tonne on July 10.

While in central, north, and south, the alumina prices registered growth by RMB 10, 20, and 5 per tonne to stand at RMB 2795 per tonne and RMB 2690 per tonne respectively on July 10; in the east, the price remained unchanged at RMB 2800 per tonne.

As far as the other input costs are concerned such as bauxite, pre-baked anode, and aluminium fluoride, they had been showing restraint over a period of time at RMB 495 per tonne, RMB 3135 per tonne, and RMB 9700 per tonne, respectively.
