Siemens to use aluminium alloy from thyssenkrupp Schulte for its new cooling fan blades

EDITED BY : 1MINS READ

thyssenkrupp Schulte (TKS), a part of TK's Materials Services business unit,  has developed a special aluminium alloy, which is used in making new fan blades by Siemens.

thyssenkrupp group claims their Materials Services business unit is the biggest materials distributor and service provider in the western world. TKS supplies custom sized materials for over 70,000 customers in industry, construction and the trades.

According to TKS, the aluminium alloy is used in making blades for generator cooling fans. The material is claimed be offering 'significant cost benefits' to the customer. Since aluminium is much more durable and lightweight, the company thinks it will save significantly on maintenance.

"The switch from steel to aluminium will provide Siemens with the same functionality at significantly lower cost," said Gerald Mulot, sales manager for major customers at TKS.

For the project, TKS has signed an agreement with Siemens to supply several tons of aluminium mill products per year from its logistics centre in Dortmund, Germany, on a just-in-time basis. This, according to him, will ensure uninterrupted raw material flow and enable Siemens to concentrate on production.
