According to the estimate of The Aluminum Association, shipments of aluminium products in U.S. and Canada drop slightly YOY in October 2016.
During October 2016, shipments of can stock by domestic producers totalled 310.4 million pounds, a drop of 12% from the October 2015 total of 354.5 million pounds. Sequentially, shipments dropped 12.6% from the September 2016 total of 355.1million pounds. YTD shipments from January to October 2016 were 3,496.0 million pounds which recorded a slight drop over the same period of 2015. While producer shipments of can stock to U.S. markets dropped 10.4% to 271.5 million pounds in comparison to October 2015, exports recorded a drop of 25% to 38.8 million pounds.
U.S. and Canadian producers shipped an estimated 78.3 million pounds of aluminium foil during October 2016, reporting a drop of 2.4% from the October 2015 total of 80.2 million pounds. Shipments were down 1% from the September 2016 total of 77.5 million pounds. YTD shipments from January to October 2016 totalled 813.3 million pounds, slightly down from the same period of previous year that recorded a total of 817.6 million pounds.
Estimated shipments of Aluminum Extruded Products like shapes, pipe & tube, and rod & bar by U.S. and Canadian producers were 440.4 million pounds in October 2016, a drop of 2.3% over the October 2015 total of 450.8 million pounds. Compared to the previous month, shipments were up slightly from the September 2016 revised total of 436.7 million pounds. Year-to-date shipments from January to October 2016 were 4,412.2 million pounds, up 1.2 per cent over the same period of 2015.

Estimated net shipments of Aluminium Sheet and Plate by U.S. and Canadian producers were 682.9 million pounds in October 2016, a drop of 3.5% over the October 2015 total of 707.7 million pounds. Compared to the previous month, shipments were off 7.2% from the September 2016 revised total of 735.6 million pounds. Year-to-date shipments from January to October 2016 were 7,084.4 million pounds, up slightly over the same period of 2015.
