Scepter Group reports fire outbreak at its aluminium recycling plant in Seneca Falls
On Monday, November 22, the Scepter Group, reported a fire outbreak at its aluminum recycling plant in Seneca Falls. The news came after the company called 911 at 1:33 am and reported the incident. However, investigators are still unsure how the fire set in, said some officials.
Seneca Falls police and firefighters, as well as Waterloo, Fayette and Aurelius firefighters, and North Seneca Ambulance responded to the fire at 11 Lamb Road in Seneca Falls, Seneca Falls Fire Department District Chief Allen Larsen said.
A Seneca Falls police sergeant reported pallets on fire in a pit underneath the building. Firefighters reached the spot a little later. They together brought the fire under control in about 30 minutes after the call, said the police.
No injuries have been reported so far. The cause of the fire outbreak is still under investigation, but both police and firefighters said that was accidental and nothing suspicious.
Scepter shut down its plant only for half an hour while the fire was on, but returned to full operation after the fire was extinguished. Scepter operates its aluminum recycling facility 24 hours a day.
