Two of the world's biggest primary aluminium producing countries Russia and the US registered declines in their aluminium offshore sales during January-April 2017. Russia reported a drop in the export volume while the US registered a decline in both import and export for the period under review.
A comparative trade data shows the following aluminium export trends for both countries during January-April 2017 vis-à-vis January-April 2016. Please note, the figures given below are estimates; the actual figures represent a drop which can be attributed to multiple macroeconomic factors.
{alcircleadd}According to Russia Customs data, the country exported 1,085,800 tonnes (1.08 million tonnes) of aluminium during the initial four months of this year, down from 1,116,000 (1.11 million tonnes) tonnes a year ago.
The US reported a decline in both aluminium exports and imports in April in comparison to March, showed data released by the US Department of Commerce.

The US exported 6,340,647 kilogram (6.3 million tonnes) in April, and a total of 29,368,416 kg (29.3 million tonnes) during the first four months of this year.
Aluminium imports by the US totalled 273,425,560 kg (273 million tonnes) in April and 1,063,133,543 kg (1.06 million tonnes) during January-April 2017.
