RUSAL ships 5 percent more aluminum by rail in January to May
Russian Railways said that export shipments grew 5.8% to 990,800 tonnes but domestic shipments fell 0.6% to 66,800 tonnes. Alumina shipments rose 2.8% to 3.065 million tonnes with imports up 4.8% to 2.051 million tonnes but domestic shipments falling 1.1% to 1.014 million tonnes.
RZD's figures differ from Rusal's own, which are usually published later because RZD reports aluminum shipped in containers as container cargo without a breakdown for the type of cargo.
