RUSAL has announced its operating results for the first quarter 2019. Total alumina production stood at 1,932 thousand tonnes in 1Q19, up 2.1 per cent from 1,892 thousand tonnes in 1Q18. On-quarter-on-quarter comparison, production declined 1.3 per cent from 1,958 thousand tonnes in 4Q18. Russian alumina operations accounted for 35 per cent of the total output.
Aughinish Alumina produced 479 thousand tonnes of alumina in 1Q19. Production in the first quarter of 2019 increased 2.4 per cent quarter-on-quarter and 2 per cent year-on-year. Alumina production from Nikolaev Alumina Refinery stood at 423 thousand tonnes, down 3.5 per cent quarter-on-quarter.

In 1Q19, total bauxite production came in at 3,831 thousand tonnes, an increase of 29.4 per cent from 2,960 thousand tonnes in 1Q18. On-quarter-on-quarter comparison, production increased 3 per cent from 3,719 thousand tonnes in 4Q18.
North Urals bauxite mine produced 529 thousand tonnes; Timan produced 663 thousand tonnes in 1Q19. Bauxite production at Friguia, Kindia and Dian-Dian mine stood at 259 thousand tonnes, 904 thousand tonnes and 732 thousand tonnes respectively in 1Q19.
Bauxite Company of Guyana Inc. produced 253 thousand tonnes of bauxite, down 26.6 per cent quarter-on-quarter, compared to 345 thousand tonnes of bauxite in 4Q18.
