Royal Enfield has introduced the new Classic 650, a motorcycle that stays true to the brand’s retro design philosophy while incorporating modern features and the company’s proven 650cc parallel-twin engine.
{alcircleadd}The motorcycle follows the styling cues that have made the Classic series popular, featuring traditional lines, a hand-pinstriped fuel tank and premium aluminium switch cubes. Royal Enfield has positioned the model as a value-focused option in the mid-capacity retro motorcycle segment, with a starting price of USD 7,499 in the United States and CAD 9,999 in Canada.
The Classic 650 uses the same 650cc parallel-twin engine found in several other Royal Enfield models. While it is not designed as a high-performance motorcycle, it offers a smooth riding experience and focuses on comfort, styling and everyday usability.
The bike comes equipped with a round LCD instrument display and Royal Enfield’s Tripper Pod navigation system, which can be connected to a smartphone through the company’s mobile application for turn-by-turn navigation. A USB-C charging socket is also fitted on the handlebars, allowing riders to charge mobile devices during longer journeys.
The riding position is designed for comfort, with mid-mounted foot pegs and a relaxed handlebar reach. The seat height is 800 mm (around 31.5 inches), making it accessible to a wide range of riders. Despite its approachable ergonomics, the motorcycle has a claimed curb weight of approximately 535 pounds, making it one of the heavier models in Royal Enfield’s 650cc lineup.
According to Royal Enfield, other motorcycles using the same engine platform have claimed curb weights closer to 472 pounds, highlighting the additional weight that comes with the Classic 650’s design and equipment.

During a media ride around St. Augustine in northern Florida, the motorcycle was tested on a mix of straight roads and gentle curves. The 650cc engine delivered smooth performance, while the suspension setup, consisting of an upside-down Showa front fork and twin rear shock absorbers, handled road imperfections comfortably.
Braking duties are managed by ByBre-supplied brakes carrying Royal Enfield branding. The six-speed gearbox provided smooth shifts throughout the ride, with no reported issues during testing.
For the 2026 model year, the Classic 650 is available in three colour options in the United States and Canada: Black Chrome, Teal and Vallam Red.
According to Royal Enfield historian Gordon May, the Teal colour was inspired by an accidental colour printing variation in one of his books on the company’s history. The shade proved popular among enthusiasts and was eventually developed into a production paint option.
Royal Enfield opened pre-sales for the Classic 650 on February 26, 2026, through its dealer network across the United States and Canada. The pre-sale period runs until March 31, after which the motorcycles are expected to begin arriving at dealerships for customer deliveries and showroom display.
