What could be a viable solution for the United States to meet its current aluminium demand when the country is suffering from a domestic primary aluminium production shortage and high import costs due to a 50 per cent tariff on the metal? Recycling it is! Rightfully, Trond Olaf Christophersen, chief financial officer of Hydro, has pointed out, “If the US administration wants to improve self-reliance on aluminium, the quickest way to do it will be to keep more of the scrap in the US and support recycling capacity.”
