EDITED BY : 3MINS READ

Pure Aluminum, a rapidly growing aluminium processor headquartered in Saranac, Michigan, is teaming up with industry leaders Traxys and Consortium Metals in a powerful new joint venture. Together, this partnership is set to transform aluminium recycling by turning scrap into high-value, sustainable products—delivering essential materials to a wide array of industries and driving forward a more circular economy.

Traxys brings global expertise in the physical trading of metals and natural resources, while Consortium Metals adds deep market knowledge in secondary aluminium sales and marketing.  As part of the new partnership, Pure Aluminum will oversee and expand operations at its state-of-the-art production facility in Saranac, Michigan. Traxys will take the lead on global sourcing and financing and manage marketing, logistics, and customer relationships.

Not only this, the joint venture will also significantly expand Pure Aluminium's presence across North America. Its Saranac, Michigan facility is in the midst of a multi-phase expansion, featuring the addition of advanced rotary and reverberatory furnaces to scale up production.

"Pure Aluminum was conceived by my desire to build a state-of-the-art secondary aluminium plant that incorporates the latest ultra-efficient furnaces and automation to enhance efficiencies and safety. It was also really important to me that our greenfield plant's sustainability platform is an industry leader ensuring the highest environmental standards and carbon footprint reduction initiatives, so our customers do not have to worry about legacy issues," said Mark Clark, CEO and owner of Pure Aluminum and Franklin Metals.

Both companies share a strong commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles, and the joint venture is designed to ensure complete transparency throughout the entire value chain, from sourcing and production to final delivery.

Once fully ramped up, the plant will be capable of processing more than 30 million pounds of aluminium scrap per month. This includes a wide range of products such as secondary aluminium spec alloys, recycled secondary ingot (RSI), wrought alloys, and aluminium deoxidisers. The expanded capacity will directly address the growing demand for recycled and speciality aluminium products, fuelled by tightening regulations on carbon emissions and increasing consumption across North America's industrial landscape.

Every product will be precision-crafted to meet strict chemical and dimensional standards, and delivered through a fast, flexible and customer-first supply chain designed to keep pace with evolving market needs.

"This partnership supports our mission to serve the circular economy and deliver critical metals to our global customer base," said Mark Kristoff, CEO of Traxys. "We're proud to combine Traxys' market reach and financing capabilities with Pure Aluminium's operational strength and decades of experience in the secondary markets, to scale up a domestic and sustainable aluminium production."
