Pro-Ject, the audiophile equipment manufacturer, has unveiled The Dark Side of the Moon Turntable to honour the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd's iconic album and pay homage to its album cover. The unique turntable is set to release in October and faithfully recreates the album artwork of the 1973 album. The turntable exclusively features aluminium, which recreates a utopian, hallucinogenic outlook that Pink Floyd is synonymous with.

The cover features a beam of white light split into its constituent colours, symbolizing the album's themes of exploration and transformation.
Pro-Ject's limited-edition record player pays homage to Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon" album cover. The record player is equipped with high-end components, including an acrylic and black aluminium tonearm, a Pick it PRO Special Edition cartridge, and a precision belt drive offering two speeds.
The player also boasts a 10 mm heavy glass triangle platter, similar to the triangular dispersive prism on the album cover. The platter is supported by a solid aluminium sub-platter for added stability. The LED-backlit rainbow, which replicates the iconic album cover's visuals, is positioned below the platter. The rainbow has a dimming function and serves as the base for the turntable's tonearm.
The Pick it PRO Special Edition cartridge is pre-adjusted and comes with a speed switch to easily switch between 33 and 45 rpm. Additionally, it boasts gold-plated RCA connectors that ensure high-quality sound. The precision belt drive with electronic speed control and semi-symmetrical phono cable are also noteworthy features.
Pro-Ject recently launched the T2 W turntable as an upgrade from the T1 released in 2019. Unlike its predecessor, the T2 W has WiFi connectivity that enables 24bit/48kHz lossless wireless playback. Additionally, it comes with a "zero-resonance" glass platter, similar to the Dark Side Of The Moon turntable.
Although Pro-Ject has not announced an official shipping date yet, it is expected to be available at UK Pro-Ject dealers this month. Aluminium is generously used in the end-user sector because of its infinite recyclability.
