On 13 th July 2021, Emirates Global Aluminium announced the commencement of the second phase of its expansion to Al Taweelah smelter in Abu Dhabi. The aluminium smelter expansion casts up 26 new reduction cells to Potline 2, boosting production capacity by over 30,000 tonnes of hot metal per year. According to the Shanghai Metals Market, China produced 3.22 million tonnes of aluminium in June 2021. That was down by 3.01 per cent month-on-month from 3.32 million tonnes after a hike last month. Iran's aluminium production stood at 131,376 tonnes during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 21-June 21), from 101,202 tonnes in the previous year.
