Primary aluminium output in Russia & Eastern Europe drops 1.5% Y-o-Y during January-April’23

According to the International Aluminium Institute, primary aluminium production in Russia & Eastern Europe stood at 329,000 tonnes during April 2023, bringing the total output in the first four months to 1.326 million tonnes.

The output in April’23 reflected a month-on-month downfall of 4.08 per cent or 14,000 tonnes from 343,000 tonnes and a year-on-year drop of 2.92 per cent or 10,000 tonnes from 333,000 tonnes.

The production during January-April 2023 also edged a fall of 1.49 per cent from 1.346 million tonnes a year ago, in line with the monthly and annual decline during April’23.

The daily average output in April was recorded at 11,000 tonnes after a drop of 100 tonnes from the previous month and year.

In Western & Central Europe, primary aluminium production during April 2023 was 224,000 tonnes, down by 6,000 tonnes from 230,000 tonnes in March and plunged by 20,000 tonnes or 8.20 per cent from 244,000 tonnes.

From January to April 2023, Western & Central Europe produced 893,000 tonnes of primary aluminium – 9.71 per cent less than 989,000 tonnes during the corresponding period of the previous year.

The daily average output was 7,500 tonnes, up by 100 tonnes from 7,400 tonnes a month ago but down by 600 tonnes from 8,100 tonnes a year earlier.
