According to the Shanghai Metals Market, China’s social inventories of primary aluminium grew 2,000 tonnes across eight major consumption areas on Thursday, September 9, following a downfall of 5,000 tonnes in the previous week. SMM data showed the inventories stood at 751,000 tonnes on September 9, compared to 749,000 tonnes on September 2.

{alcircleadd}The rise in primary aluminium inventories on September 9 was primarily contributed by Nanhai, Shanghai, and Tianjin. In Nanhai, primary aluminium inventories built up 8,000 tonnes to stand at 220,000 tonnes, followed by the growth of 2,000 tonnes in Shanghai to 73,000 tonnes. In Tianjin, inventories inched up by 1,000 tonnes to come in at 67,000 tonnes.
On the other hand, primary aluminium inventories in Wuxi and Gongyi decreased by 5,000 tonnes and 3,000 tonnes, respectively, to stand at 230,000 tonnes and 60,000 tonnes, while the stocks in Linyi and Chongqing remained unchanged at 14,000 tonnes and 4,000 tonnes.
