Bahrain’s national exports escalate by 62% with unwrought aluminium alloys as top product

Bahrain’s national exports escalated by 62 per cent arriving at US$1.2 billion or BD460 million during May 2022, if compared with a BD283 million collection for the same month last year. The records have been confirmed by the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) in their current foreign trade report.

Saudi Arabia was reportedly placed in the first position among other national zones, considering the BD90 million imports from Bahrain. USA came in the second place with BD64 million and Italy ranked third with BD42 million.

The top ten countries of national origin that bought materials from Bahrain totalled almost 75 per cent of the entire export value, while the countries left accounted for only 25 per cent.

Unwrought aluminium alloys recorded a collection of BD189 million, being exported the most in May 2022. The second most exported materials were agglomerated iron ores and concentrate, while the third most item exported was aluminium wires with a gross collection of BD18 million.

The entire value of re-exports heightened by 5 per cent amounting to BD57 million during May 2022 in comparison with a BD55 million collected the previous year during the same month. Again, the top ten countries collectively amounted to 86 per cent of the re-exported value, while the ones left out resulted in 14 per cent. Singapore had the highest re-export numbers with BD15 million, followed by the United Arab Emirates with BD9.5 million and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with BD8.6 million.

If the Bahraini imports are considered Australia should hold the highest place with a total of BD71 million, next is China with BD69 million and Brazil ranks the third with BD63 million.

Among other high-priority materials, aluminium oxide was one of the top products imported to Bahrain, amounting to BD70 million. The second position was taken by non-agglomerated iron ores and concentrates, while the third place was captured by non-calcined petroleum coke.

The value of the deficit or the difference between the amount exported and the amount imported, referred to as the trade balance was BD1 million during May 2022 if compared with a BD64 million gap for the same month of last year. Therefore, there has been a 99 per cent improvement in the trade balance.
