
Singapore's Ministry of Home Affairs has awarded Aluminium shipbuilding expert, Penguin International and ST Marine a collaborative contract for the supply of three rescue vessels.
On Monday, December 19, Penguin announced that the contract involves supplying a heavy marine fire vessel, a heavy marine rescue vessel and a marine rescue vessel. The project includes the designing, construction and system maintenance of the three aluminium vessels. The construction of the vessels is anticipated to start in mid-2017 and the ships are expected to be delivered in 2019.
Penguin announced it to be confirmed information. The three vessels are the first project to be awarded by Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), four years after it took up the fire-fighting operations within Singapore's waters.

ST Engineering in a separate announcement said that ST Marine and its US shipyard VT Halter Marine Inc have also secured new contracts worth S$138 million for three rescue vessels. ST Marine also won repair contracts for passenger ferry, trailers and chemical and oil tankers.
ST Marine president Ng Sing Chan said: "Working with other industry partners such as Penguin International Limited, this project will also ensure that the local marine eco-system is sustained to provide the best services to our valued customers."
