Sustainable water brand Open Water has declared its collaboration with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to provide water in aluminium bottles or cans during the Oscar Awards on March 12.
This action is to decrease the amount of one-time-used plastic bottles in a social event, which in turn, propagates environmental etiquette and brings a globally accepted ceremony closer to the Net Zero goals set by the European Union.
Through the prestigious Academy Awards, Open Water has plotted to initiate the good practice of using refillable aluminium bottles for water. We have already seen examples of celebrities promoting aluminium use or reuse and how it has yielded exciting results in the past.
The Co-founder of Open Water, Jess Page, exemplifies: “We started Open Water with the mission to stop the scourge of plastic water bottles from making their way into our oceans. We are thrilled that the Academy is using Hollywood’s biggest stage to make a statement on the importance of minimising plastic waste.”
Open Water aluminium bottles would be made public on the eve of this star-studded occasion. This can be considered a very wise promotional idea for the sustainable drinking water brand.
“Open Water products have been valuable to the Academy in achieving our goal of a plastic-free production environment while supporting our overall commitment to operating as a socially and environmentally responsible organisation,” commented Jeanell English, Academy Executive Vice President of Impact and Inclusion.
