Novelis has agreed to supply high-recycled, flat-rolled aluminium to VELUX Group for use in roof windows. The news came on Friday, November 11, after Novelis and VELUX Group entered into a partnership contract.

As per the report, VELUX Group is hopeful to meet its carbon emissions goal by 2030 across the value chain by using high-recycled content. The aluminium will have a recycled content of around 70 per cent, about 30 per cent more than what Novelis currently supplies to VELUX.
Novelis targets to supply rolled aluminium having below 4 .0 kg of carbon emitted per kilogram to VELUX by 2024, well below half the average carbon footprint of primary aluminium used in Europe.
Stephen Boney, Vice President, Specialty Products, Novelis Europe, said: "We are excited that we can help VELUX achieve its ambitious carbon emission reduction goals by supplying low-carbon, sustainable aluminium solutions. As a leader in aluminium sustainability, Novelis recognizes that material innovation and collaboration across the value chain will enable decarbonization, support a circular economy and help us achieve our carbon neutrality goal."
Nikolaj Cederquist, Vice President, Global Procurement, VELUX Group, said: "The Novelis agreement marks our second strategic aluminium partnership this year as we accelerate actions to decarbonise our products and value chain. Our scope 3 carbon emissions are our largest and they are also the hardest for us to reduce, which is why partnerships will help us go far and faster."
Through this agreement, VELUX Group and Novelis will work together further towards reducing carbon emissions in aluminium and developing more sustainable coating systems, while cultivating circular economy. The latter is a common goal that both VELUX and Novelis look for in other long-term partnerships.
