Novelis awards Tenovo FAC for its new aluminium automotive sheet finishing line

Novelis Deutschland GmbH awarded Tenovo, worldwide partner for innovative, reliable solutions in metals and mining, the Final Acceptance Certificate (FAC) for a state-of-the-art aluminium automotive finishing line at the Nachterstedt Plant in Germany at the end of 2016.

Novelis, world’s leading supplier of aluminium flat rolled products, has invested $85 million to increase company’s annual production capacity by 120,000 tons of automotive sheet and will offer high-quality automotive sheet of alloys used in lightweight vehicle structures and body panels to the worldwide buyers.

Nachterstedt Plant is located next to Novelis' existing rolling mill and the world's largest aluminium recycling centre.

The aluminium automotive finishing line is processing automotive aluminium coils having a thickness in the range of 0.7 up to 2.7mm and a width range from 800 up to 2100mm.

The line is equipped with a double pay off reel section converging to a stitcher unit; an entry vertical looper, the thermal section with entry bridle roll group, floating furnace with cooling section and exit bridle roll group; a chemical section with acid etching, spray passivation and a special squeegee roll coater unit; an exit horizontal looper, the re-heater and a double winding section with auxiliary devices.

The latest automotive finishing line made by Tenovo was constructed to provide aluminium sheet to the leading automakers such as Jaguar Land Rover, BMW and others. Novelis automotive sheet can be can be found in more than 180 different vehicle models in production today.
