This milestone marks the launch of the brewery’s brand-new in-house canning line, offering improved packaging flexibility and consistency. But it’s more than just a shiny update. With aluminium tariffs threatening to drive up costs globally, North Coast is doubling down on the metal for one big reason, i.e. sustainability.
Aluminium cans aren’t just trendy, they’re eco-powerhouses. They’re infinitely recyclable, meaning every empty can has the potential to become another without ever losing quality. Their lightweight design reduces transport emissions, making beer deliveries more environmentally friendly. And let’s not forget their ability to shield beer from light and oxygen, keeping every sip as fresh as the brewer intended.
“These beers have been with us since the early days, in bottles and on draft,” said CEO/CFO Jennifer Owen. “Canning them for the first time is not just a packaging update—it’s a celebration of their legacy and a way to bring them to more people in a more convenient package.”
As part of its sustainability push, North Coast is also rolling out Eco-Rings, compostable can holders made from plant fibres. Unlike traditional plastic six-pack rings that often harm wildlife, these fully biodegrade, offering guilt-free convenience to beer lovers.
Six-packs of Red Seal Ale and four-packs of PranQster are now hitting shelves at select retailers, the brewery shop, and online (where shipping laws allow). The refreshed can designs honour the originals while giving them a modern edge.
“We’re proud to pair this historic canning release with a packaging innovation that reflects our values,” Owen added. “Eco-Rings are a step forward for the planet and for craft beer.
