According to the latest report from Aluminium Association, aluminium net shipments (including exports) by U.S. and Canadian producers stood at an estimated 2,091 million pounds during May, up 4.5% over the May 2016 total of 2,000 million pounds. Shipments of aluminium mill products increased 6% YoY to 1,399 million pounds, while shipments of aluminium ingot for castings, exports and destructive uses were up 1.6% YoY to 691 million pounds.
Estimated shipments of Aluminum forgings and impacts by U.S. and Canadian producers stood at 29.3 million pounds during May 2017, an increase of 10.4% over the May 2016 revised total of 26.5 million pounds. Compared to April, shipments were off 4.4% from 30.6 million pounds. YTD shipments through May 2017 totaled 150.7 million pounds, up 16.0% over the 2016 YTD total of 129.9 million pounds.

Through the first five months of 2017, preliminary producer shipments stood at 10,047 million pounds, up 1.4% over the same period of 2016. May inventory levels stood at an estimated 2,842 million pounds, down 2.5% from April and down 2.1% YoY.
