North America’s primary aluminium production drops by 4% YoY in June; South America’s output up by 32%
According to the latest data showed by the International Aluminium Institute (IAI), North America’s primary aluminium production stood at 318,000 tonnes in June 2021, a decrease of 3.64% from 330,000 tonnes in June 2020. On a monthly basis, the output slipped by 3.34% from 329,000 tonnes in May.
The primary aluminium stood at 1.960 million tonnes in the first half of 2021. That marked a drop of 1.75% year-on-yea, from 1.995 million tonnes in the first half of 2020.
In South America, primary aluminium production ccame in at 96,000 tonnes in June 2021. That was up by 31.51% from June 2020’s aluminium production of 73,000 tonnes but down by 3.03% from May 2021’s output of 99,000 tonnes.
Primary aluminium production in South America inched up by 14.72% year-on-year to 569,000 tonnes in January-June 2021. The output was 496,000 tonnes in January-June 2020.
