Nokia, the once undisputed king of the global mobile handset market is planning to bring back its classic model Nokia 3310 in a brand new aluminium-body avatar.  An update representing a distinctly turn of the millennium flavour, Nokia 6 will be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) to be held in Barcelona from February 27-March 2, 2017.

The news of the Finnish company planning a launch of its new handset with the same name- Nokia 3310- has stirred up a lot of nostalgia among today’s mobile phone users who once have had a humble start with the sturdy model back in 2000.  It is this nostalgia that HMD Global Oy is looking to cash on.

The new Nokia 3310, just like its much loved predecessor, is reportedly going to be a feature phone focusing on the absolute basics. With sturdy yet stylish aluminium built, it will cost €59 (roughly INR 4,200) and will be positioned for the growing number of low-end Android smartphone users in the Asia Pacific region. The USP for the phone once again is going to be its long-lasting battery.

HMD Global plans to launch 3 more mobile handsets along with aluminium-bodies Nokia 3310 at the MWC. The Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 will compete directly in the low-end Android smartphone segment and Nokia 6 will be positioned at the higher-end category.  The company expects to see a huge boost in its sales volume post Nokia 3310 launch, which has already recorded an unprecedented 1.4 million registrations by interested buyers via China’s e-commerce website JD.com.
