National Aluminium Company Limited’s (NALCO) aluminium ingot and aluminium products prices have witnessed an exponential rise on Tuesday, March 8, in tandem with the incessant LME aluminium price rally for over a week close to US$4,000 per tonne. NALCO has raised its aluminium ingot price by INR 37,200 per tonne or 12 per cent to the range of INR 346,450-349,950 per tonne as of March 8. A week ago, with effect from March 1, the price stood at INR 309,250-312,750 per tonne, after being expanded by INR 8,800 per tonne from the previous day.

NALCO’s aluminium wire rod price also soared by INR 37,200 per tonne, with effect from March 8, to score at INR 348,950 – 353,300 per tonne versus INR 311750-316,100 per tonne on March 1. Aluminium billets price came in at 349,900- 352,550 per tonne, ascending by 11.8 per cent from INR 312,700-315,350 per tonne on March 1.
NALCO links its aluminium ingot and aluminium products prices to the three-month future price of aluminium on the London Metal Exchange, which surged by US$489 per tonne through the week to stand at US$3,984.50 per tonne as of March 7. Thus, on a month-on-month calculation, the price stood 26.57 per cent or US$836.50 per tonne higher than U$3,148 per tonne.
NALCO’s aluminium products and alumina account for nearly two-thirds of the company’s gross topline, while the sales of chemicals contribute to the rest. NALCO manufactures wire rods, billets, coils, and chequered sheets.
