National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has hiked its aluminium ingot and aluminium products prices for the fourth time in a row, with effect from March 1, 2022, in line with the LME aluminium price surge as an effect of several international sanctions on major producer Rusal. NALCO has increased its aluminium ingot price by INR 8,800 per tonne or 2.93 per cent to INR 309,250-312,750 per tonne. On February 25, the price saw the last rise of INR 20,000 per tonne to INR 300,450- 303,950 per tonne.

With effect from March 1, NALCO’s aluminium wire rod price also saw an increase of INR 8,800 per tonne to INR 311750-316,100 per tonne from INR 302,950- 307,300 per tonne on February 25. Aluminium billets price came in at INR 312,700-315,350 per tonne versus INR 303,900- 306,550 per tonne on the previous day.
NALCO links its aluminium ingot and aluminium products prices to the three-month future price of aluminium on the London Metal Exchange, which grew on February 28 by US$94.50 per tonne to US$3,450 per tonne. Thus, on a month-on-month calculation, the price stood 10.93 per cent or US$340 per tonne higher than U$3,110 per tonne.
NALCO’s aluminium products and alumina account for nearly two-thirds of the company’s gross topline, while the sales of chemicals contribute to the rest. NALCO manufactures wire rods, billets, coils, and chequered sheets.
