National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has further reduced its aluminium ingot and aluminium products prices with effect from Thursday, January 21. After cutting the aluminium ingot price by INR 2000 per tonne last week on January 16, NALCO this week has narrowed the price by INR 1700 per tonne to INR 167,850-171,350 per tonne.

With the latest cut, NALCO’s aluminium wire rod price has come in at INR 171,350-175,700 per tonne, also down by INR 1700 per tonne from INR 173,050-177,400 per tonne on January 16. NALCO’s aluminium billets price is hovering around INR 171,300-173,950 per tonne compared to INR 173,000-175,650 per tonne last week.
NALCO, like any other Indian aluminium producers, links its aluminium ingot and aluminium products prices to the three-month futures of aluminium on the London Metal Exchange, which after last Friday, January 15, decreased to US$ 1976 per tonne, as of January 20, from US$ 2000.50 per tonne. Currently, the LME aluminium three-month futures price is up by US$ 169 per tonne or 9.35 per cent on a year-on-year basis.
NALCO’s aluminium products and alumina account for nearly two-thirds of the company’s gross topline, while the sales of chemicals contribute to the rest. NALCO manufactures wire rods, billets, coils, and chequered sheets.
