Founded in 2018, a USA-based fitness firm, Movano, has introduced the Evie smart ring, specifically crafted for women. The key would be displayed at CES 2023, but the brand is already proudly flaunting the primary features of the aluminium-forged ring.

This model has been developed as a contemporary to the Oura rings, but with one clear benefit, a user would not be charged each month to get essential diagnostics made by the device.
The use of aluminium in making the Evie smart ring makes it highly sustainable even at the end of its life. Aluminium is an infinitely recyclable non-ferrous metal that retains its original properties even after a rigorous transformation process. In the case of electronics, most of the time, a particular device doesn't find its way back to a recycling centre but is dumped somewhere and forgotten.
In Movano Evie smart ring's case, a customer would be able to participate in creating a greener economy almost unintentionally. These devices would be available in assorted silver, gold or rose gold tinges on the round aluminium frame.
Movano Evie smart ring has been scheduled for a mid-2023 launch. The device will give users accurate heart rate readings, step counts, skin temperature, heart rate variability stat and SpO2 blood oxygenation statistics.
From the devices' data, one can decipher the respiration rate, activity duration, sleep details like sleep stages and the number of calories burned. Most importantly, the device gets its 'made for women' tag owing to some unique characteristics crucial to a woman's livelihood. The Movano Evie smart ring can track a woman's menstrual cycle and identify the ovulation days. The device-related app can store all the intimate data of a female customer.
Movano is confident that its SpO2 and heart rate technology is 'medical grade' and, at this moment, is undergoing FDA clearance tests to be fit for the Evie smart ring.
Anyhow, the FDA rating for any wearable electronics is not the ultimate certification, and it does not approve the item as a medically compatible one. Yet Movano associates the word 'medical' with the Evie smart ring.
The Health Ceo of Movano, John Mastrototaro, commented: "As a medical device, Evie will go beyond the status quo of other wearables on the market, and we believe it has the power to transform women's lives and overall health."
