Matalco starts operations at aluminium billets plant in Wisconsin Rapids

Matalco has started production at its aluminium plant in Wisconsin Rapids. The facility, which began operations on November 19, has already shipped over 3 million pounds of products, reported Wisconsin Rapids Tribune.

Matalco announced in January 2019 that it would invest US$80 million to construct a manufacturing facility for secondary aluminium billet. The company would employ 80 permanent, full-time workers in the 110,000 square feet plant with a capacity to produce 240 million pounds of aluminium billet.

The company is an independent company engaged in remelting of aluminium and manufacturing of aluminium billets for the extrusion, rolling and forging industries.

The project offered challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, but the team was able to construct the facility and began operations under budget, according to the Robert Roscetti, the vice president of corporate development at Matalco.
