LME aluminium prices ease on July 13; stocks and cancelled warrants continue to decline

Aluminium prices on the London Metal Exchange (LME) are continuing to drop since the previous close. While cash, three-month contracts and stocks reported declines, longer-dated contracts improved.

The LME aluminium cash bid price stood at USD 3,138 per tonne on July 13, down 0.54 per cent from USD 3,155.5 per tonne on July 10. The cash offer price also declined by 0.55 per cent to USD 3,138.5 per tonne from USD 3,156 per tonne.

Likewise, the LME aluminium three-month bid price slipped by 0.24 per cent to USD 3,145 per tonne on July 13 from USD 3,152.5 per tonne on July 10. The three-month offer price decreased by 0.19 per cent to USD 3,147 per tonne from USD 3,153 per tonne.

For the December 2027 contract, the bid price reached USD 3,087 per tonne on July 13, up 0.39 per cent from USD 3,075 per tonne on July 10. The December 2027 offer price also gained 0.39 per cent to USD 3,092 per tonne from USD 3,080 per tonne.

The LME aluminium three-month Asian Reference Price was recorded at USD 3,169.5 per tonne on July 13.

On the inventory side, LME aluminium opening stocks fell by 0.52 per cent to 287,725 tonnes on July 13 from 289,225 tonnes on July 10. Live warrants remained unchanged at 246,400 tonnes on both days.

Cancelled warrants declined by 3.63 per cent to 39,825 tonnes on July 13 from 41,325 tonnes on July 10.

Meanwhile, the LME alumina Platts price stood at USD 330.9 per tonne.
