LME aluminium opened at US$2,222.50 per tonne yesterday, with high and low at US$2,244 per tonne and US$2,205 per tonne, respectively, before closing at US$2,232 per tonne, up US$10 per tonne or 0.45 per cent.
The LME aluminium benchmark price again recorded a decline on Thursday, January 25, after the two consecutive days of hike. Both LME aluminium cash bid price and LME aluminium official settlement price decreased by US$19 per tonne or 0.86 per cent to stand at US$2,188 per tonne and US$2,188.50 per tonne, respectively.
Compared to the beginning of the month when the price was at US$2,336.50 per tonne, the LME aluminium benchmark price stands 6.33 per cent down.
3-month bid price and 3-month offer price shrank by US$15 per tonne and US$14 per tonne, respectively, to come in at US$2,228 per tonne and US$2,230 per tonne. December 25 bid price and December 25 offer price shed off US$10 per tonne, amounting to US$2,470 per tonne and US$2,475 per tonne, respectively.
LME aluminium opening stock also registered a fall of 1,275 tonnes to reach 545,050 tonnes. Live Warrants and Cancelled Warrants settled at 341,575 tonnes and 203,475 tonne, respectively. While the former increased by 3,100 tonnes, the latter decreased by 4,375 tonnes.
LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price fell by 1.36 per cent to close at US$2,216.98 per tonne.
SHFE aluminium price
On Friday, January 26, the SHFE aluminium benchmark price has increased by US$23 per tonne to close the week at US$2,668 per tonne. From the same day last week, the price is up by US$42 per tonne or 1.6 per cent, but over a month the price is down by US$21 per tonne or 0.78 per cent.
Overnight, the most-traded SHFE 2403 aluminum contract opened at RMB 18,925 per tonne, with its lowest and highest at RMB 18,875 per tonne and RMB 18,995 per tonne before closing at RMB 18,990 per tonne, up RMB 125 per tonne or 0.66 per cent.
