LME aluminium benchmark price soars 2% to settle at US$3148/t; SHFE price exceeds US$3500/t level

Three-month LME aluminium opened at US$3,090 per tonne and rose 1.52 per cent to close at US$3,134 per tonne on Monday, January 7.

On the same day, LME aluminium cash (bid) price and LME aluminium official settlement price soared up by US$61 per tonne or 1.98 per cent to settle at US$3,147.50 per tonne and US$3,148 per tonne, respectively. 3-month bid price and 3-month offer price surged by US$47.50 per tonne and US$46 per tonne to come in at US$3,110.50 per tonne and US$3,111 per tonne. December 23 bid price and December 23 offer price also scored higher at US$2,848 per tonne and US$2,853 per tonne.
LME aluminium opening stock continued to decrease to 768250 tonnes. Live warrants and Cancelled warrants recorded at 413725 tonnes and 354525 tonnes.
LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price totalled at US$3,126.37 per tonne.
SHFE aluminium price
On Tuesday, January 8, the benchmark aluminium price for SHFE moved up by US$25 per tonne to exceed US$3,500 per tonne level. The price is currently standing at US$3,513 per tonne.
The most-traded SHFE 2203 aluminium closed up 3.03 per cent or RMB 655 per tonne to RMB 22,290 per tonne, with open interest up 3811 lots to 207118 lots.
The most-active SHFE 2203 aluminium contract opened at RMB 22,250 per tonne and decreased 0.25 per cent to end at RMB 22,115 per tonne last night.
