
LME aluminium opened at US$3,238 per tonne last Friday and ranged between US$3,108-3,240 per tonne before closing at US$3,199 per tonne, a decrease of US$39 per tonne or 1.2 per cent.

On Friday, February 11, LME aluminium cash (bid) price slipped by US$112.50 per tonne to come in at US$3,199.50 per tonne, while LME aluminium official settlement price shrank by US$113 per tonne to score at US$3,200 per tonne. 3-month bid price and 3-month offer price plunged by US$107 per tonne to stand at US$3,179 per tonne and US$3,180 per tonne, respectively. December 23 bid price and December 23 offer price also saw a decline of US$46 per tonne to US$2,817 per tonne and US$2,822 per tonne.
LME aluminium opening stock totalled 875250 tonnes on February 11. Live warrants increased to 607275 tonnes, while Cancelled warrants stood lower at 267975 tonnes.
LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price also closed at US$3,185.63 per tonne.
SHFE aluminium price
On Monday, February 14, the benchmark aluminium price for SHFE moved down for the second consecutive day by US$54 per tonne or 1.50% to settle at US$3,555 per tonne.
According to the Shanghai Metals Market, the most-traded SHFE 2203 aluminium closed down 2.45 per cent or RMB 570 per tonne to stand at RMB 22,670 per tonne, with open interest down 17708 lots to 192635 lots.
The most-traded SHFE 2203 aluminium contract opened at RMB 23,670 per tonne during last Friday’s night session, and hit a low of RMB 22,185 per tonne before closing at RMB 22,440 per tonne, down by RMB 230 per tonne or 1.01%.
