LME aluminium cash (bid) price and LME official settlement price opened the week on Monday, January 17, with a hike of US$31 per tonne and US$31.50 per tonne, respectively. That brought the prices to US$3008 per tonne and US$3,009 per tonne. However, on Tuesday, January 18, both LME aluminium cash (bid) price and LME official settlement price slipped by US$3 per tonne to US$3005 per tonne and US$3006 per tonne, but on Wednesday saw a jump of US$30 per tonne to US$3,035 per tonne and US$3,036 per tonne. On Thursday, the prices continued to soar by US$74 per tonne and US$73.50 per tonne to settle at US$3,109 per tonne and US$3,109.50 per tonne, which on Friday, January 21, closed lower at US$3,079 per tonne and US$3,079.50 per tonne.
3-month bid price and 3-month offer price settled at US$2,994 per tonne and US$2,996 per tonne on January 17, which grew the next day by US$11.50 per tonne and US$10 per tonne to come in at US$3005.50 per tonne and US$3006 per tonne. On Wednesday, January 19, 3-month bid price and 3-month offer price increased by US$21 per tonne to close at US$3,026.50 per tonne and US$3,027 per tonne. On Thursday, January 20, they further grew by US$53.50 per tonne and US$55 per tonne to come in at US$3,080 per tonne and US$3,082 per tonne, but decreased the next day to US$3,060 per tonne and US$3,061 per tonne.
LME aluminium opening stock decreased throughout the week from 892800 tonnes to 865950 tonnes.
SHFE aluminium price
Benchmark aluminium price for SHFE started the week on Monday, January 17, at US$3,325 per tonne, which inched up the next day by US$3 per tonne to US$3,328 per tonne. On Wednesday, January 19, the price jumped by US$64 per tonne to come in at US$3,392 per tonne, but dipped on January 20 by US$24 per tonne to US$3368 per tonne. On Friday, January 21, SHFE price closed US$6 per tonne higher at US$3,374 per tonne.
