The British Liberty House Group took over Fonderie du Poitou Aluminium and renamed it Liberty Aluminium Poitou a year ago.
The Group acquired both the Fonderie du Poitou Fonte and Fonderie du Poitou Aluminium located near Châtellerault in France. Both the companies are in trouble again, though the ex-Foundry of Poitou Aluminium would be considered more promising, in the present stage it remains gloomy.
{alcircleadd}The two automotive sub-contractors from Ingrandes-sur-Vienne, near Châtellerault, north of New Aquitaine, the former Fonderie du Poitou Fonte, specializing in the manufacture of cast iron crankcases, and the Fonderie du Poitou Aluminium, which for its part realizes aluminium cylinder heads.
Fonderie Poitou Fonte and Fonderie Poitou Aluminium the two sister companies which originally belonged to the Saint-Jean Industries group, in Belleville-en-Beaujolais (Rhône-Alpes), had turnover of € 91.7 million and € 59 respectively in 2017.
They were put under the umbrella of a job safeguard plan (PSE) in September 2018, before being placed in receivership in early 2019 and then being liquidated in April of the same year. The date they were taken over by the British group Liberty House, which created two new companies: Liberty Aluminium Poitou, April 25, 2019, and Liberty Foundry (foundry) Poitou the next day. The old appellations persist in everyday life, a bit like brands.
It should be recalled that this industrial recovery operation was supported by the public authorities, be it the State and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, which undertook to inject nearly € 3 million in aid for market diversification, the buyer anticipating € 4 million over two years. If Liberty Aluminium Poitou uses an alloy now very fashionable in the automobile, aluminium to manufacture its cylinder heads, it is wrong to depend 100% on a single customer for its sales, the Renault group, as keeping in mind that this car manufacturer is itself in great difficulty at the end of the confinement period.
When the two sister companies were taken over, the workforce was reduced from more than 700 employees to 601.
