Lanka Aluminium Industries PLC and the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA) have jointly organised a full-day factory tour for architects at the company's aluminium extrusion plant in Ekala, Ja-Ela, as part of efforts to strengthen technical knowledge of aluminium systems used in construction.
{alcircleadd}The visit was conducted under the 'Specification Writing for Architects' programme launched by SLIA President Dilumini De Mel, who accompanied a group of senior architects during the tour.
During the visit, participants were given an insight into aluminium extrusion processes and product applications. Lanka Aluminium Industries said it will continue conducting similar programmes for government institutions to promote greater awareness of aluminium extrusion-based products and solutions, complementing the initiatives it has already undertaken.
Speaking on the importance of selecting the right aluminium systems, Lanka Aluminium Industries Chairman Dinal Peiris said the company's technical expertise enables it to support architects and consultants in making informed decisions.

"We have the in-house knowledge and expertise to assist the architects and consultants in choosing the most appropriate systems. This is essential for the success of any installation, to ensure optimal performance and value. For example, an over-specified window system will unnecessarily increase costs, while an under-specified system will result in poor performance," Peiris said.
Lanka Aluminium Industries is a Board of Investment-approved listed company and one of Sri Lanka's longest-established aluminium extrusion manufacturers. The company produces aluminium extrusions for architectural, hardware, transport and specialised applications.
With more than four decades of experience, it has supplied aluminium extrusion solutions for buildings and high-rise developments, with several projects receiving international recognition.
The company said its products are manufactured in line with British and other international standards while incorporating the latest developments in design and industry practices.
