
Kyrgyzstan, a landlocked mountainous, lower-middle-income country with an economy dominated by minerals extraction, agriculture, and reliance on remittances from citizens working abroad.

Referred to as the Switzerland of Central Asia, Kyrgyzstan has documented 22,103 tonnes of aluminium scrap exportation during 2018-19 and the revenue earned through the export remained at $29.51 million. The export for 2020 was recorded at 5113 tonnes and the earnings stood at $6.13 million. However, when the export volume and earnings of 2020 get counted with the existing two years, it demonstrates 27,216 tonnes and $35.64 million respectively.

Kyrgyzstan’s export of aluminium scrap in 2018 was registered at 12,471 tonnes and the revenue earnings accounted for $17.77 million, whereas, in 2019 the export unfolded downfall by 22.76%, as the export volume fell to 9632 tonnes and the earnings also dipped to $11.74 million.
The import for 2020 stood at 5113 tonnes, which signified de-growth by 46.91% and the expenditure declined to $6.13 million.
The major destinations of Kyrgyzstan’s export of aluminium scrap are Latvia, Russia, Lithuania, Turkey, etc.
