KAAN Architecten won the Benelux Aluminium award 2013 for sustainable renovation with dreamhouse

An independent jury comprising of personalities from the world of technology, architecture and media in Belgium and Netherlands were present in Benelux Aluminium Award 2013. Among the personalities, prof. Jan Brouwer (architect, NL), the Chairman and Vice-Chairman Thomas Dierickx (architect, BE) presented the award for the non-residential buildings category to KAAN Architecten’s Dreamhouse.
Based on criteria like significant use of aluminium, energy efficiency & consumption, contemporary design, the socio-economic impact and last but not the least value added to original building, the jury evaluated all the entries.
The awarded project was Dreamhouse, a renovation program of a state monument that consist of two stores namely Citroren and Schaap. The architect was KAAN Architecten. Started in the year 2009, the project team comprised of Luca Baialardo, Timo Cardol, Antonia Reif, Luuk Dietz, Kees Kaan, Vincent Panhuysen and Paolo Faleschini.
