The Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce recently presented its 2018 Business and Industry Awards.  The entity honoured the award winners on November 29th at the North Charleston Convention Center during a special event. Through this award, the Chamber recognizes businesses and industries for their contributions to Berkeley County.  This year the chamber chose the winners based on the broad categories of innovation and technology, community engagement and volunteerism.

“These companies represent respected qualities: drive, vision, perseverance, the desire to make a difference and in many cases the willingness to take a risk and make sacrifices” said Elaine Morgan, Berkeley Chamber CEO.

“Each of the honorees, whether through the growth of their businesses, their time-honored service to the community or their volunteerism, have contributed significantly to the vitality and growth of Greater Berkeley County”.

JW Aluminum manufactures flat-rolled aluminium products for the building and construction markets, HVAC industry, flexible packaging industry and the aerospace industry.  The company’s US$ 250 million expansion represents the most significant capital investment in domestic aluminium continuous cast technologies and capabilities since 2001. The expansion will include a new 220,000 square foot building and the installation of new equipment, which will add 175 million pounds of new capacity to the plant. The expansion will also create 50 new jobs as in the region.
