Italy’s import of bauxite during 2018-20 reveals constant downfall

The pandemic-hit Italian economy is predicted to grow 4.1% in 2021 and 4.2% in 2022 in an “uncertain ascent from the abyss”, the country’s business lobby Confindustria said in April 2021.

Italy’s import of bauxite

The European nation at the Mediterranean coastline, Italy registered bauxite importation of 86,447 tonnes during 2018-19 and the expenditure involved in the import accounted for $22.60 million. The import for 2020 stood at 24,633 tonnes and the expenditure remained at $7.30 million. However, when the import volume and expenditure of 2020 gets assorted with the preceding two years, it denotes 1,11,080 tonnes and $29.90 million respectively.

Italy’s import of bauxite in 2018 was recorded at 47,908 tonnes and $10.17 million revenue was expended for the import, whereas, in 2019, the import saw de-growth by 19.55%, as the import volume dropped to 38,539 tonnes, while expenditure rose to $12.43 million

In 2020, the import saw a further drop by 36.08%, as the import volume plunged to 24,633 tonnes and the expenditure curtailed to $7.30 million.
