
The Covid-19 pandemic has taken Indonesia into its first recession in 22 years, following a downfall of 5.32% in the Q2 of 2020. The last time this happened was during the Asian financial crisis in 1998.

Indonesia’s export of aluminium stranded wires in 2018-19 stood at 2540 tonnes and the revenue generated for this export remained at $ 20.48 million. The export for 2020 was recorded at 2055 tonnes and the earnings accounted for $ 12.50 million. However, when the export volume and earnings for 2020 gets merged with the existing two years, it denotes 4595 tonnes and $ 32.98 million respectively.

The South-eastern Asian and Oceania nation’s export of aluminium stranded wires in 2018 remained at 1456 tonnes and the earnings stood at 11.70 million, whereas, in 2019, the export saw de-growth by 25.54%, as the export dropped to 1084 tonnes and the earnings also shrunk to $ 8.78 million.
Indonesia’s export of aluminium stranded wires in 2020 again reflected growth by 89.57%, as the export surged to 2055 tonnes and the earnings also recorded growth, but not proportionate with the export volume.
Indonesia’s major trading destinations for the export of aluminium stranded wires are Australia, Bhutan, East Timor, France, Hong Kong, Jordan, New Zealand, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, etc.
