TeamIndus, a Bengaluru-based space start-up, has offered an opportunity to the citizens of India to drop their names on the moon on small-sized aluminium objects. TeamIndus’s innovative technology involves procedure of engraving people’s names on small-sized aluminium objects and placing them on the moon’s surface during the next mission.
The name plate plan on aluminium device is a part of a crowd-funding effort. TeamIndus is charging INR 500 for sending names on the lunar surface. The mission is scheduled on 28th December 2017.
The ISRO’s PSLV rocket will travel 3.84 lakh kilometres from earth and will make a soft landing on the moon on January 26, 2018. During landing, the aluminium device with names engraved on it will be put on the surface. The robotic rover will send back photos and videos.

TeamIndus is the sole Indian rival in Google’s Lunar XPRIZE. The start-up has already signed a contract with the ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) for the moon mission.
