Aluminium's versatility and protective characteristics have cemented its status as a top choice for packaging. Its role in the push toward sustainability, supported by its infinite recyclability without losing quality, makes aluminium an essential alternative. Hyke has recently enhanced its packaging by introducing a new aluminium bottle for its gin.
This innovation is collaboration with Vetroplas Packaging and Neville & More, utilising Envases products distributed in the UK by Vetroplas. The 70cl aluminium bottles are crafted entirely from 100 per cent post-consumer recycled (PCR) aluminium, a choice that conserves natural resources and reduces the carbon emissions typically associated with the production of new aluminium.
By using recycled aluminium, Hyke achieves a significant 40 per cent reduction in the weight of the filled bottle compared to glass, which decreases fuel consumption during tsransportation and lowers greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to a more sustainable supply chain.
Recycled aluminium usage
The demand for recycled aluminium has been growing at a healthy pace during the last decade. While the overall production for aluminium is likely to improve by about 2.3 per cent in 2024, the demand for recycled aluminium is forecast to grow at about 4.2 per cent.
Many aluminium producers are now offering green aluminium products which contain more recycled aluminium content and are produced using clean energy. Many recycling companies are increasing their capacities and adopting the best available technologies.
Simon Pierce, a representative of HYKE Gin, stated, “We are excited to take this step towards enhancing our sustainability efforts while maintaining our award-winning quality. Our customers can enjoy our outstanding gin, knowing it is crafted with care for both flavour and the environment.”
