On Tuesday, April 18, Aluminium Stewardship Initiative certified Hindalco Industries Limited against the Performance Standard V2 (2017) for sheet rolling operation at the Taloja facility in the Raigad District of Maharashtra, India. This facility represents Hindalco’s third ASI-certified rolling plant after Mouda and Hirakud FRP, which received ASI Performance Standard Certification in February 2022 and December 2022, respectively.
The Taloja facility accounts for one-fourth of Hindalco’s total rolled products output. The facility produces litho sheets, foilstock, closure stock, auto finstock, lamp caps, and aluminium composite panels.
The ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) certification defines environmental, social, and governance principles and criteria, aiming to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain.
Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI, said: “We congratulate Hindalco Industries Ltd, for achieving ASI Performance Standard Certification at its Taloja Works rolling mill. Rolled aluminium products are inputs to an extensive range of downstream sectors, making rolling mills key players that support further production in numerous global supply chains. This ASI Certification is a stepping stone for the company, identifying successes and gaps, and providing a route to implement more responsible production practices.”
Soumojit Dawn, Unit Head at Hindalco Taloja Plant, said: “This certification is recognition towards our relentless efforts to make the world Greener with our variety of product ranges. The certification process itself is a great enabler to identify the strengths and opportunity for improvements towards sustainable and responsible production practices. We at Hindalco Taloja team are feeling more committed and responsible towards our sustainability goals and intermediate milestones to achieve those goals.”
The independent, third-party audit of Hindalco’s Taloja facility was conducted by LiberoAssurance.
